Calzaghe still does not rate Haye

Enzo Calzaghe says he still does not rate David Haye, who was crowned undisputed cruiserweight champion after beating Enzo Maccarinelli on 9 March.
The fight at London's O2 Arena was stopped in the second round after Haye floored Swansea's Maccarinelli.

But the Welshman's coach said: "I think the same of Haye as I did before. If Enzo went 12 rounds with the guy, he would have destroyed him.

"Hopefully we can get Enzo back in ring at the beginning of June."

Haye's win ended Calzaghe's run of 28 undefeated world title fights as a coach, but he says the 27-year-old Maccarinelli has learnt his lesson.

"He has come to terms with it," said Calzaghe. "There's no one to blame but himself. He won't do that again.

"A defeat doesn't have to be the end, it could be the beginning of your life. He wasn't hurt technically.

"I'd rather it have gone that way than him been involved in a 12-round war. There is no physical damage like there would have been in a long battle. The only thing hurt is his pride.

"All this said, Haye did nothing for me to change my views on him. It wasn't his performance that counted it was Enzo's performance. He was only as good as Enzo made him look.

"He answered no questions to me. He only threw four punches himself a round. Four whole punches.

"You can't judge what Haye is all about from that fight. It took him five big straight rights to deck Enzo.

"Now you think he is going to be fighting 17-stone guys [by moving up to heavyweight division]. It will take a lot more to put them down."

"He won fair and square but let's not get carried away because Enzo underperformed."
