Sheffield Wednesday have signed Portsmouth's French winger Franck Songo'o on a month's loan.
Songo'o, 20, impressed Wednesday boss Brian Laws during a loan spell with Crystal Palace earlier this season.

Laws said: "He has an abundance of talent and pace and I hope he will be an excellent acquisition for us.

"He played against us at Palace and showed he has a turn of pace and can be creative. Hopefully his arrival will give the rest of the players a lift."

Songo'o has also been on loan at Preston and Bournemouth.

Sheffield Wednesday have extended QPR midfielder Adam Bolder's loan spell at Hillsborough by another month.
Bolder, 27, joined Rangers last season and started the current campaign as the London club's captain.

But he is among several players to have fallen out of favour since Luigi De Canio took over as QPR boss.

Bolder, who started his career at Hull City, will not be eligible to play for Wednesday in their Championship match against QPR this weekend.

Dubai International Capital (DIC), the investment group aiming to buy into Liverpool, says it would be willing to share power with co-owner Tom Hicks.
DIC lead negotiator Amanda Staveley says the firm is "prepared to accept a 49% shareholding in Liverpool FC."

Hicks is keen to keep his interest while fellow American co-owner George Gillett is apparently open to offers.

The new peace deal would see DIC allow Hicks to buy one per cent of Gillett's share giving him a 51% stake.

Staveley is a senior partner at PCP Capital Partners, who are acting on behalf of the Dubai government's private equity arm in the matter.

She said: "Subject to renegotiation of a partnership agreement and subject to the usual stringent minority shareholder protection rights we would be prepared to accept a 49% shareholding in Liverpool FC.

Sir Alex Ferguson insists he has not set a date for when he will step down as manager of Manchester United.
The 66-year-old told French radio this week that he could retire in 2011.

But Ferguson said: "It's something I've said quite a bit. If your health is good and you are enjoying your job it could be two or three years, who knows?

"I am not going to pigeonhole myself on that one. It could be four years. Who knows, it could be tomorrow. It is impossible to put a time limit on it."

Ferguson, who has won 18 trophies since he took charge at Old Trafford in 1986, originally planned to retire in 2005 but changed his mind.

Reading manager Steve Coppell has defended his decision to loan out striker Leroy Lita to Charlton.
The 23-year-old frontman has struggled to force his way into the first team this season and will be at the Valley for 28 days.

Coppell said allowing him to go was a "calculated risk" but it seemed "the right thing to do".

He said: "He, like a few other players, are upset about not playing regularly, which is a natural reaction."

"I have four strikers. In an ideal world, all four of them would have been happy to stay and fight for their place, but they get frustrated and get down about their particular scenario - and strikers more so than most.

"This is just a short-term solution. Whether it proves to be a long-term solution, I doubt it but we'll just wait and see what happens after 28 days

Rangers striker Daniel Cousin faces a month on the sidelines after an X-ray revealed he broke his jaw in Thursday's UEFA Cup win over Werder Bremen.

The 31-year-old will miss a run of crunch games including the second leg against Bremen, next weekend's CIS Insurance Cup final, Sunday's Scottish Cup clash with Hibernian and a run of league games.

Rangers have other options in attack, but Cousin had looked set for a key role as Walter Smith's side continue their challenge for honours on four fronts.

His move to Fulham collapsed last month when FIFA refused to authorise the transfer, as it would have meant him playing for a third club in the same season, Cousin having started the campaign at Lens.

Now Cousin must wait before he can contribute again to Rangers' campaign.

He told the Scottish Sun: "This is the worst possible thing that could happen after breaking back into the team."

He added: "Hopefully I'll get back as quickly as possible so I can help the team to win trophies

Birmingham chairman David Gold has branded FIFA president Sepp Blatter as "outrageous" after his attack on the tackle by defender Martin Taylor which left Arsenal striker Eduardo with a broken leg.

Eduardo is facing up to 15 months out of the game after the challenge by Taylor in the Barclays Premier League game at St Andrews a fortnight ago.

Taylor has insisted there was no malice in the challenge and Eduardo has accepted it was an accident after the pair met in a Birmingham hospital where he underwent surgery.

But Blatter has gone on the offensive and wants longer bans for such offences.

He said: "It is shocking when you see how this player was attacked. It is not football. Football is a contact game but it is a game with rules.

Arsene Wenger will challenge his Arsenal team to run out at the JJB Stadium at Wigan on Sunday and pick up where they left off against AC Milan in midweek.

The Arsenal manager is keen to use the magnificent form the Gunners showed in becoming the first English side to beat AC Milan in the San Siro to resurrect a Barclays Premier League campaign which has faltered in recent weeks.

Arsenal have seen their lead whittled down to one point by Manchester United, following disappointing draws against Birmingham and West Ham, and they face a Wigan side desperate to ease their relegation worries.

Wenger said: "It will be a big test because they are playing not to go down. They are under pressure, like we are at the top. They are under pressure not to go down."

David Moyes insists there is not a hope of Everton completing another seven-goal haul against troubled Sunderland on Sunday.

Back in November, Everton beat Roy Keane's men 7-1 at Goodison Park in the middle of a 13-game unbeaten run.

But the Everton boss claims things will be very different at the Stadium of Light, with Everton "having to play the crowd as well as the team".

Moyes, named Barclays manager of the month for February, knows Everton must bounce back instantly from their disappointing 2-0 defeat against Fiorentina in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.

Tottenham head coach Juande Ramos wants to complete a London treble on Sunday by defeating West Ham at White Hart Lane.

Ramos ended Spurs' miserable run against Arsenal with the famous 5-1 victory in the Carling Cup semi-final, before defeating Chelsea to lift the trophy at Wembley.

Beating the Hammers would give Tottenham bragging rights of sorts in the capital, even if they are behind all three of their London rivals in the Barclays Premier League.

Ramos knows about rivalries from his time at Sevilla when he faced Real Betis, although he is still learning about the British variety.

Celtic's on-loan striker Georgios Samaras is prepared to consider a permanent move to Parkhead when the time is right.

The 23-year-old Greece international was signed until the end of the season in January by Hoops boss Gordon Strachan from Manchester City.

The former Heerenveen striker quickly settled in to life in Glasgow, scoring on his debut against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

Samaras is enjoying his new challenge at Parkhead and has not ruled out extending his stay at Celtic Park.

Roy Keane is ready to go to war with Trinidad and Tobago after they called up Carlos Edwards for a friendly in Jamaica at the end of the month.

Sunderland winger Edwards is close to returning from the broken leg which has sidelined him since December, with manager Keane hoping he will feature for the reserves next week.

The 29-year-old's injury plight has not prevented his country naming him in their squad for the March 27 friendly in Kingston, a game which also falls two days before his club's crucial Barclays Premier League home clash with West Ham.

"I'm surprised Carlos has been called up," said Keane ahead of tomorrow's visit of Champions League-chasing Everton.

Marko Pantelic's second-half equaliser earned a point for Hertha Berlin on Friday night and prevented Borussia Dortmund from moving up to ninth in the Bundesliga standings.

Sebastian Kehl had given the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time before Pantelic levelled five minutes into the second period. He was then red-carded, only for the punishment to be rescinded soon after.

Dortmund could have climbed four places with a win but a point keeps them 13th. Hertha move up a place to 10th courtesy of the away draw.

Visiting goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny had already parried a header wide from Christian Worns, while Pantelic had tested Marc Ziegler at the other end, before Dortmund seized the initiative just before the half-time whistle.

MK Dons moved back to the top of League Two with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Grimsby.

A 10th-minute header from skipper Sean O'Hanlon was enough to see off the Mariners in a dress-rehearsal for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

O'Hanlon met Colin Cameron's left-wing corner at the near post and though his header was cleared by Danny Boshell an assistant flagged that the ball had crossed the line.

Chelsea boss Avram Grant has confirmed Petr Cech faces another week on the sidelines with his ankle injury.

Cech missed the midweek UEFA Champions League victory over Olympiakos after turning his ankle in training and he will also miss this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final at Barnsley.

It was feared Cech could be sidelined for up to a month with the problem, but Grant expects the 'keeper to be back in action in a week.

It means Cech looks set to miss next Wednesday's game with Derby, but could return for the clash with Sunderland on March 15.

"He's getting better but it will take about one week more," said Grant.
