Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal must guard against an aerial bombardment when they head to relegation battlers Bolton tomorrow.

The Gunners have paid a high price for some poor defensive displays in recent weeks, picking up only four points from five Premier League games.

That has seen Arsenal drop off the top of the table with both Manchester United and Chelsea overtaking them.

At Stamford Bridge last weekend, the Gunners failed to deal with the threat of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka as the Blues came from behind to win 2-1.

Arsenal have not enjoyed the best of returns from their trips to the Reebok.

The last three Premier League visits have ended in defeat, although they did win there in the FA Cup last season.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has accused his fellow Premiership mangers of being "hypocrites" over their demand for greater respect to be shown to referees.

Following ugly scenes throughout the season, culminating in Chelski full-back Ashley Cole refusing to turn around and face Mike Riley, a number of managers have insisted that referees should be treated better.

But Keane, who famously launched a vein-throbbing tirade at Andy D'Urso when he dared to award a penalty against Manchester United, complained to the BBC: "There are a lot of hypocrites out there. The same bosses talking about players showing respect have been sent off themselves for abusing officials.

"There has been so much rubbish spoken in the last week or two. I have spoken to many old players and they used to go out and try to break people's legs

George Gillett today revealed his relationship with fellow Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks "has been unworkable for some time".

Speaking to a sports radio programme in Toronto, Canada, he also said he and his wife have been subjected to death threats.

Gillett and American business partner Tom Hicks are unpopular with some Reds fans after their disagreements with manager Rafael Benitez and their controversial refinancing of the club.

Dubai International Capital recently failed with a bid to buy a 49% stake in the club, which would have seen Hicks retain a controlling interest.

Gillett said: "This partnership has been unworkable for some time."

He also said he and his wife "receive many phone calls in the middle of the night threatening our lives".

Midfielder Darren Fletcher has been ruled out for six weeks with a knee ligament injury, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Friday.

Fletcher suffered the setback in Scotland's 1-1 draw against Croatia in midweek in a friendly at Hampden Park.

Ferguson said: "It is a bad blow for us as Darren will be out for six weeks."

Kolo Toure believes he has a "nasty" streak that can help Arsenal put their Premier League title bid back on track.

The Gunners head to Bolton in their worst run of league form in nine seasons after taking only four points from the last five games to allow both Manchester United and Chelsea to overtake them at the top of the table.

Manager Arsene Wenger believes his side have paid a high price for some poor defensive displays - which was evident at Stamford Bridge last weekend where Toure and central partner William Gallas failed to deal with the threat of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka as the Blues came from behind to win 2-1.

Ivory Coast international Toure, 27, has, though, been one of the most consistent performers since he came into the first team.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka insists he is happy to sacrifice his place in the starting line-up for the good of the team.

Anelka found himself on the bench against Arsenal last Sunday as two goals from Didier Drogba gave Avram Grant's side a crucial victory over their title rivals.

But Anelka made an immediate impact when he was introduced from the bench with Chelsea trailing to Bacary Sagna's goal.

It was the first time he had partnered Drogba in a 4-4-2 formation since arriving at Stamford Bridge in a £15million move from Bolton in the January transfer window.

But Anelka, who was fouled by David James for the penalty that enabled France to beat England on Wednesday night, could well find himself back among the substitutes against Middlesbrough on Sunday.

French club Valenciennes are eager to sign striker Filip Sebo on a permanent basis from Rangers this summer.

Slovakian Sebo was loaned out to the Ligue 1 side in August and has impressed boss Antoine Kombouare.

Valenciennes now hope to do a deal allowing them to keep the 24-year-old, who failed to impress in his one season at Ibrox following a £1.8million move from Austria Vienna.

Kombouare told the Scottish Daily Mail: "I have been very satisfied with Filip and would like to keep him here.

"He is only on loan at the moment but I would hope we could make the transfer permanent."

Michael Ballack believes Jens Lehmann deserves to be Germany's number one at Euro 2008.

The goalkeeper has barely featured for Arsenal this season, having lost his place to Spaniard Manuel Almunia.

But he put in an assured display in Germany's 4-0 friendly win over European Championship co-hosts Switzerland in Basle on Wednesday night to go a record 621 minutes without conceding a goal for the national team.

Germany coach Joachim Low has a number of up-and-coming keepers he can call on, including Bayer Leverkusen's Rene Adler and Schalke's Manuel Neuer, as well as the more experienced Timo Hildebrand from Valencia, but Ballack feels Lehman is justifiably the first choice.

The Chelsea midfielder told the Bild newspaper: "It is of course silly if you don't play for your club.

"But Jens has shown that he is the right man to keep goal. I believe there will be no more talk about it in the lead up to the championships

Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski admits he has had enough of warming the bench at the Allianz Arena.

The 22-year-old has been largely restricted to substitute appearances this season, with Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld favouring Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose up front.

Podolski, who scored for Germany in Wednesday's 4-0 friendly win over Switzerland, was linked with a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window, but Bayern were unwilling to let him go.

AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino's future will be decided in the summer, according to his agent.

The Italy international has struggled to make an impact with the Rossoneri this campaign and the former Parma frontman has been linked with a move to Roma at the end of the season.

His agent Giovanni Bia said: "Of course to play alongside Francesco Totti would be a pleasure for any player. Alberto is a team player and he has contributed to many goals scored by Milan.

"We will discuss his future in June but for the time being Alberto has a contract with the Rossoneri club."

Michael Owen is keen to impress Fabio Capello but believes his recent record for England stands up to scrutiny from the head coach.

The Newcastle striker admitted staying fit and playing regularly will hold the key to England's fourth-highest all-time scorer showing his best form.

Owen, who has scored 40 goals for his country, was a non-playing substitute for Capello's first match in charge against Switzerland but came off the bench to play the second 45 minutes of Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to France in Paris.

Ronaldinho's agent has admitted a summer transfer from Barcelona is a possibility.

The 27-year-old has played just seven full games so far this season, and has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp - with Chelsea among several clubs reportedly interested in him.

Ronaldinho reportedly has a release clause in his contract, but with the value thought to be prohibitively high, a more likely option should he be determined to leave is the possibility of invoking article 17 of FIFA's transfer regulations.

This allows players to buy out the remainder of their contract under certain circumstances and would prove a cheaper option.

Roberto Assis, the two-time world player of the year's brother and agent, told www.GloboEsporte.com: "The possibility for Ronaldinho leaving Barcelona is always there.

"We are aware of the release clause, but we also know about the existence of article 17. Anything is possible.

"In football, results determine how things go. Barcelona have not won anything since last season and, as Ronaldinho is the star of the team, he is the one who is given the worst criticism."

Howard Webb, widely-regarded as England's best referee, has once again suffered an unfathomable snub by refs' chief Keith Hackett.

Having been overlooked for duty on Grand Slam Sunday, Webb has been told he will not take charge of this year's FA Cup final. Instead, Webb will officiate next week's semi-final between Pompey and West Brom - a task that automatically makes him, along with Barnsley-Cardiff referee Alan Wiley, ineligible for May's showpiece.

Fernando Torres is expected to be fit for Sunday's Merseyside derby after surviving a midweek injury scare.

The Liverpool striker was substituted early in the second half of Wednesday's Spain 1-0 friendly defeat to Italy after once again suffering harsh treatment from Inter Milan's Marco Materazzi.

Just over a month after Materazzi was dismissed for two fouls on Torres during a Champions League quarter-final, Torres was left limping by another mis-timed tackle by the defender.

However, Liverpool are confident that he will be available to lead the line against Everton this weekend.

Roberto Assis, the brother and agent of Barcelona's Ronaldinho, has denied claims the 28-year-old forward has already made up his mind to leave the Catalan club in the summer.

Reports from Brazil suggested Ronaldinho and his brother were considering the possibility of invoking article 17 of FIFA's transfer regulations, which allows players to buy out the remainder of their contract under certain circumstances.

The news ignited speculation that Ronaldinho was certain to leave the Nou Camp in the summer, but Assis told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo his comments did not constitute a statement of intent.

"It's not that we intended to go to FIFA and use article 17 to free Ronnie from his contract," he said.

"What I said was merely a response to a question asking if we were aware of this legislation."

Assis also denied speculation that he was engineering a deal to take his brother to Real Madrid, saying: "It is not true, there has been nothing between us and them."
